Venice Lido and Pellestrina

DURATION: a day

MEANS: train, vaporetto and walking/biking

RECOMMENDED PERIOD: spring, summer

Venice Lido and Pellestrina are two of the most beautiful islands in the Venice Lagoon. The Lido is famous for its sandy beaches and the annual Film Festival. Here you can admire Art Nouveau palaces, historic villas, and the ancient Fort of San Nicolò, built in 1852.

Pellestrina, on the other hand, is a long, narrow island located between Lido and Chioggia. Here you can experience an authentic and traditional atmosphere of small fishing villages, old churches and long deserted beaches.

On both islands you can enjoy traditional Venetian cuisine, made up of fresh fish dishes such as sarde in saor, baccalà mantecato, and cuttlefish stew.

In summary, Venice Lido and Pellestrina are two must-see destinations for those who want to discover the beauty of the Venice Lagoon, including beaches, history, tradition and good food.
