The Lagoon of Venice

DEPARTURE: The Foscarini with transfer to Ca’ Vio

ARRIVAL: Punta Sabbioni

CAPS: Treporti - Lio Piccolo - Venice Lagoon - Punta Sabbioni

LENGTH: 35 km

DIFFICULTY: intermediate

This loop route of about 40 kilometers winds along the coast of the Venetian lagoon and offers spectacular views of the sea and surrounding vegetation. The itinerary begins near the village of Ca’ Vio, where you can easily park your car. The route continues in the direction of Treporti passing through Lio Piccolo, where a short stop can be made to admire the view of the lagoon. From here, it continues in the direction of Ca’ Savio. The road skirts the sea and allows you to admire the sand dunes and pine forests that characterize this area of the lagoon. Finally, we arrive at Punta Sabbioni, the departure point for ferries to the islands in the lagoon. The last section of the route involves returning to the starting point via the provincial road through the Veneto countryside.

In general, the route is fairly easy and suitable for those with a fair amount of experience in MTB or gravel riding. There are no technical or particularly challenging sections, but it is still necessary to pay attention to the dirt roads and sandy sections that characterize some parts of the route.
