Venice Lido and Pellestrina

DURATION: one day

TRANSPORT: train, ferryboat and on foot/bike

RECOMMENDED PERIOD: spring, summer

Venice Lido and Pellestrina are two of the most beautiful islands in the Venice Lagoon. The Lido is famous for its sandy beaches and the Film Festival, held every year. Here you can admire Art Nouveau palaces, historic villas and the old Fort of San Nicolò, built in 1852.

Pellestrina, on the other hand, is a long and narrow island located between Lido and Chioggia. Here you can experience an authentic and traditional atmosphere of small fishing villages, old churches and long, deserted beaches.

On both islands you can enjoy traditional Venetian cuisine, consisting of fresh fish dishes such as sarde in saor, baccalà mantecato and cuttlefish stew.

To sum up, Venice Lido and Pellestrina are two unmissable destinations for those who want to discover the beauty of the Venice Lagoon, including beaches, history, tradition and good food.
